Spurs in History - 27th July

27th July, 1994

As Ossie Ardiles attempted to raise the spirit at White Hart Lane following the F.A. punishment, it was announced that Spurs were to sign Rumanian International and World Cup star, Ille Dumitrescu.

He had started his career with Steau Bucharest and had made 44 International appearances for his country. An exciting player, his period at Spurs was not a success, it being difficult to find a role for him within the team formation. He made 16 League appearances and scored four goals in two seasons before being transferred to West Ham United in March, 1996, having had a loan spell with Sevilla.
