Spurs in History - 7th July

7th July, 1994

Vinny Samways who had joined the club as an apprentice in 1985, handed in a transfer request. He claimed that he wanted a new challenge but the punishment imposed by the Football Association was obviously making the club an unattractive proposition for players at the club as well as for players the manager might try to sign.

He eventually signed for Everton and ironically was present at White Hart Lane as Jurgen Klinsmann inspired Spurs to victory over Everton in the first home match of the season a few weeks later.
