6th April - Spurs in History

6th April, 1991

Spurs 2 Southampton 0 (1st Division)

Spurs last win on this day, at home to Southampton - 2-0.
Gary Lineker scored twice as Spurs waited to see if Gazza would be fit enough to play against Arsenal in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley, in just over a week's time. Paul Gascoigne had undergone surgery immediately after the 6th Round game against Portsmouth. It was a vital race against time.

6th April, 2002

Arsenal 2 Spurs 1 (Premiership)

The last game on this day was in 2002 at Highbury. It was the game of the two penalties. Arsenal had taken the lead and Spurs were awarded a penalty which Sheringham scored. Within minutes it was evened out as Arsenal were awarded theirs to win the game. Lauren took a dodgy run up, Keller dived and Lauren rolled the ball into the centre of the goal. It was a high risk way to take a penalty when thre points were needed to keep on track for the Premiership title.

Spurs chance to deprive their neighbours of those points had gone once again.
